Jake O’Dell, PGA, has been given the 2024 Colorado PGA Resort Merchandiser of the Year Award, which recognizes Colorado PGA Professionals who have demonstrated superior skills as merchandisers in the promotion of golf. 

Jake’s accomplishments, leadership, and contributions to the Colorado PGA are exceptional. He is a true example of Colorado’s ongoing effort to preserve and strengthen the reputations of our Professionals as “The Experts in the Game and Business of Golf.”

Flying Horse Resort & Club is proud to announce that our Golf Shop is a recipient of the prestigious 2024 Association of Golf Merchandisers Platinum Award.

For the 11th year in a row, the Golf Shop at Flying Horse has held this honor. The Association of Golf Merchandisers (AGM), established in 1989, is an international, professional association dedicated to strengthening the golf merchandising industry, and its membership is among the best and most recognized in the golf industry.

The AGM Platinum Award recognizes the top 100+ public, private, resort and off-course golf shops in the world. To achieve the award, the facilities must excel in the areas of merchandising, promotions, shop renovation, customer service, social media, staff training, and growing the [golf] game.

Flying Horse North has been recognized in Golfweek’s Best 2024: Top 200 Residential Golf Courses in the U.S.! This is the first year for Flying Horse North to be ranked in such a prestigious listing in the golf community.

To be included in the Top 200 Residential Courses, there is a panel of hundreds of members who continuously evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria, which also includes an overall rating on each course. The overall ratings are then averaged to provide a cumulative rating. The course is ranked against others in the region. We are thrilled that Flying Horse North ranked #109 with a cumulative rating of 6.52!

Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.

To qualify for an award, a wine list must present complete, accurate information, including vintages and appellations for all selections. Complete producer names and correct spellings are mandatory, and the overall presentation of the list is also considered. Lists that meet these requirements are judged for one of our three awards. These wine lists display excellent breadth across multiple wine-growing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.

Colorado AvidGolfer takes great pride in participating in golfers enjoyment of the game. In that spirit, CAG annually presents the CAGGY Awards, which honor the best Colorado courses, clubs and instructors—as voted online by readers.

Since 2016, the championship Club Course designed by Tom Weiskopf and the Pro Shop located in the Clubhouse has been award a variety of CAGGY categories.

The Merchandiser of the Year award recognizes Colorado PGA Professionals who have demonstrated superior skills as merchandisers in the promotion of golf. Awarded in three categories (Private, Resort and Public/Municipal/Military/Semi-Private), credit rating, community involvement, staffing, inventory, displays and merchandising techniques are some of the criteria considered for this award.

Since 2019, Flying Horse Resort & Club has held the coveted AAA Four Diamond designation which reflects the quality of the experience, range of amenities, and level of hospitality.

Diamond inspections are conducted by trained experts who evaluate the guest experience with consistent, objective criteria. Diamond designations hold hotels to a standard, so you get the service and amenities you expect at every Diamond level.

Certified since August 2013, our Weiskopf Course is one of three Audubon Certified courses in Colorado Springs!

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations, the program serves an important environmental role worldwide.
